OUR VALUES

What we hold each other to.

Four commitments shape how we build, how we partner and how we treat each other. We hire for them as much as for any skill.

Impact First

We measure our work by what changes for families: benefits found, applications finished, help that actually arrives. Every decision starts there.

Results Focused

We set clear goals, track them honestly and ship. Good intentions are the starting line, not the finish.

Human Centered

We design with the families, caseworkers and partners we serve, not for them, and we protect the trust and the data they give us.

Driving Change

We’re building a better front door to the safety net, and working with states and partners to make the whole system easier to navigate.

OPEN ROLES

Join the team.

We’re growing into new states, new partnerships and agentic AI that helps people not just find benefits but apply for them. Here’s where we need you now.

Product Manager

Our first Product Manager will own the engine that turns MyFriendBen’s mission into shipped product, measurable outcomes and a growing partner network: product planning, our partner CRM and the data that shows whether we’re really helping people.

Read the full role description

Product strategy and delivery

  • Own the roadmap across the screener and Benji, and defend it with evidence
  • Turn what families, caseworkers, partners and state agencies need into clear specs
  • Lead new state and program launches end to end, from eligibility rules to go-live
  • Shape how we use agentic AI in benefits enrollment, with privacy, safety and accuracy as non-negotiables
  • Talk to users constantly through interviews, usability tests and partner feedback

Systems for building and growing

  • Own our Linear workspace and run planning, prioritization and release notes
  • Own HubSpot as our CRM: partner pipeline, workflows and data hygiene
  • Run the systems behind our marketing, including the Friends of Ben newsletter
  • Connect product usage data to HubSpot so we know which partners need help

Data that proves impact

  • Own our analytics and Metabase dashboards and the metrics that matter
  • Automate partner usage tracking and state-level reporting
  • Turn data into decisions: funnels, screener completion, program uptake, partner health
  • Champion responsible practices for the sensitive data families trust us with

You have

  • 4+ years in product management, product ops or a related role at a startup or tech-forward nonprofit
  • A track record of shipping products real people use, and the metrics to show it
  • Admin-level experience with HubSpot and Linear, or comparable tools
  • Comfort with SQL and dashboards, and explaining what the numbers mean
  • Clear, warm communication with engineers, caseworkers, executives and funders
  • A bias to action, and a commitment to designing with the families we serve

Bonus points

  • Experience in public benefits, government services, social services or civic tech
  • Experience building AI-powered products, including LLM-based agents
  • Familiarity with privacy and security for sensitive personal data
  • Lived experience navigating the benefits system
  • Spanish or another language spoken by the communities we serve

How to apply

  • Send your resume and a short note to laura@myfriendben.org
  • Tell us about a product, system or dataset you built from scratch, and what changed because of it
  • Compensation: competitive salary and benefits, shared during the interview process

Don’t see your role?

We’re always glad to meet people who care about this work. Send a note about what you do and where you’d help, and we’ll keep you in mind as we grow.

LIFE AT MYFRIENDBEN

Small team. Real reach.

Every person here touches the product, the partners and the families we serve.

Remote-first

Our team works across the U.S., with roots in Colorado.

Big scope

You’ll build systems from scratch, not inherit them, and the job grows as fast as you do.

Built with partners

2-1-1s, schools, health systems, nonprofits and state agencies in eight states.

AI with care

We’re putting Benji, our AI navigator, to work on the hardest parts of applying, with privacy and accuracy first.

Backed by believers, built with partners

…plus 211s, community organizations, health systems, state agencies and Code the Dream across the country.

COME BUILD WITH US

No one should navigate the safety net alone.
Help us make sure they don’t.

MyFriendBen is an equal opportunity employer. We strongly encourage people from the communities we serve to apply, even if you don’t check every box.

In your moments of need, we are the navigator in your pocket.
